Our History

Our History

Our team of dedicated part-time volunteers is committed to helping us preserve and protect our lakes.  They perform a wide range of functions ranging from water sampling to writing newsletter articles.  Regardless of your background or experience, we doubtlessly have part-time work you could do.  If you think you would like to help us out, even if only occasionally, please get in touch!

Our History

Our History

Our History

Stemming from earlier informal efforts by some lakeshore owners, RALALA was formed as a non-profit corporation in 1994 and became a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) entity in 1998. Our membership has grown since then as has our range of activities.  Fundraising has also escalated substantially, especially subsequent to the need for the large sums necessary to deal with invasive species in our lakes

Our Mission

Our History

Our Mission

We are the lake association for Leavitt, Lawrence, Roosevelt, and Smokey Hollow Lakes, in Cass and Crow Wing Counties, Minnesota.   Our mission is to preserve our lakes and the surrounding environment.  Serious changes are happening in and around our lakes caused by stresses from climate change, heavier use and development, and invasive species infestations, and we need to help the lakes cope.
